This heart-wrenching story is shared from Francine Christophe, and her experience back in the 1940’s. She was stuck in a concentration camp. Hitler took power, and she was only eight years old and sent to Bergen-Belsen camp, yet in all the misery, there was something incredible that happened.
Her mom packed away chocolate for Francine and the desperate times. But Francine kept the chocolate safe, not knowing what shocking circumstances may whisk the chocolate away into another person’s possession. Her mom was also at the camp and asked Francine a few questions, “Are you feeling ok?” As soon as Francine replied, “Yes, mama,” her mom asked her, “I’d like to bring your chocolate to this lady, our friend Helene.” Helene was in labor and Francince’s mom explained, “Giving birth here will be hard.”
Their friend Helene ate the chocolate and made it through the labor, and her baby, although very small, was healthy. Years later, Francine held a conference for professionals of psychologists and psychiatrist, and to her surprise, among the professionals was a certain psychiatrist, who happened to be the baby at the concentration camp. Watch her amazing description of their meeting.
